Wed 19th WORCESTER: as part of the 7th Worcester Children's Storytelling Festival: Elgar's Birthplace Museum, Crown East Lane, Lower Broadheath, WR2 6RH Workshop for schools.  
     
Fri 21st DERBY: Court Room, University of Derby Kedleston Rd Campus. Launch event for the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site Discovery Days 2011  
     
Fri 28th BELPER, Derbys: The Unitarian Chapel, Field Row, DE56 1DH. Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Discovery Days Festival. A concert: Singing Round the Seasons – the year in songs and stories. Pete Castle, Keith Kendrick, Sylvia Needham. 7.30-10pm £7/£5 This will be a great concert in a great venue! The Florence Nightingale Memorial Village Hall DE4 5AR. 7.30 -10pm Pete Castle and Joyce Varty present their annual Christmas entertainment 'CHRISTMAS WITH ALISON UTTLEY' We’ve done this annually for about 10 years now! It’s an evening of readings about the Derbyshire countryside in the Christmas period gleaned from the many works of local author Alison Uttley (1884-1976) and I punctuate it with traditional songs and carols, some of which Uttley mentions or quotes in the text. Tickets £5. (Tea, coffee and mince pies available for a small donation.) Advance booking is essential—it sells out! Fri 3rd BELPER, Derbys: Strutts Centre, Derbys Rd. DE56 1UU. Links With Lit. A performance for National Storytelling Week. The oral tradition has always influenced and been influenced by the written word. Pete will perform songs and stories which have links with works of literature including writers like Shakespeare, Chaucer, Hardy and Keats. 7.30pm £5 on the door.
     
Sat 4th WIRKSWORTH, Derbys. Scarthin Book Shop DE4 3QF. A free event to relaunch Pete's book Derbyshire Folk Tales. It was published in 2010 and very quickly sold out. Now it has been reprinted. 2.30 - 4pm . Pete will tell stories from the book, sing a few songs, read a story or two. Also questions and discussion.
